Last week I was invited to attend the european grand launch event of the X-T2 in Paris. It was truly a great event on so many levels. I was already on holiday with my family 60 km from Paris, so we were close.
The INCREDIBLY kind people at Fujifilm Nordic, Fujifilm France and Fujifilm UK made sure that I could bring my family along to the event. I have no words as to the hospitality that met me and my family. I’m forever grateful! – You know who you are.
We were lodged in the Hotel Pullman near the Montparnasse tower. A great hotel, with views overlooking Paris. The children loved it. So did I.
On the first day of the two day event, Fujifilm France had arranged a press event at the Pavillion at Bois de Bologne. An incredibly beautiful venue! – There was a great presentation of the camera as well as an on stage interview with Fellow X-Photographer John Rourke. After the on-stage event there was wining and dining, and hands-on sessions.
There was a model hired in for a studio session where the guests could try out the new EF-X500 flash system. I dragged her outside instead. Used the X-T2 and the XF56mm. (I know I missed the eye focus on the last one. The wine was very good :P)
I was also very fortunate and honoured to have an image included in the gallery that they had in place at the venue.
The next morning I had an early transfer for training at Le Mans. I drove the TGV with fellow X-Photographers Dirk Bogaerts and Patrick Stoll. Incredible guys. I had a great time in their company.
Le Mans Classic was an amazing event. We were transported to the different sites by old WW2 jeeps. So, So fun. The guests got transported from Le Mans train station by old vintage busses. Very classy!
Shooting the event was great, and I had tons of fun. My main job at the event was to act as an aiding hand in testing the XT2 for the nordic delegates.
I shot 2 different series at Le Mans. I had pre-visualised a set of images which I would post-process to be time specific to the 30’s-40’s era. The other set was basically shot and edited using my normal routines. I already tested the XT2 at the racetrack, and I need not repeat myself too much. It ROCKS in this setting.

When the official event was over, I also took the chance to roam the streets of Paris with my X-T2 and X-Pro2. I brought the XF35mm f/1.4 and the XF10-24mm. I have really fallen in love with the XF10-24. I will do a blog post on it soon!

Really inspiring – you have the skills to make great shots out of “everyday” situations – skills that I and many others are struggling to “adapt”.
