Here I go again. Talking about gear! – well actually I just wanted to let you guys know that I’ve done some changes to the way I use Instagram. Over the course of the last couple of years, I’ve gained quite an Instagram following. Why, is beyond me, but I have.
I often think that my Instagram account is “all over the place” in terms of content. And recently I’ve been wanting to streamline it a little bit. If any of you follow me over there, you’ll no doubt have noticed that I’ve gone back to heavy contrast black and white street photography uploads. This of course coincides with the fact that I am in a “street-shooting” period right now, so obviously that will be reflected in my IG account.
But what I really found quite annoying was how my shots of gear seemed to disrupt the flow of my IG page. So I took the decision to separate those shots from my main IG account going forward.
But I still LOVE doing my gearshots, and whenever I’m feeling down and uninspired, picking up one of my old cameras and doing some good ol’ gearporn shots can actually lift my spirits. And Fujifilm will probably keep asking me for shots of new gear for time to come. So instead of me stopping them all together I decided to set up an alternate IG account and just use that as my “Gear Geekout Heaven”
That way I get to separate my art/photography and visual identity from my gear obsession.

Glad to see other photographers have a gear problem. For no reason other than to just have them, I’ve wanted to repurchase every model camera I’ve used over my career. Just to have. And, my favorite lenses that went with them. LIke the Nikon 43-86 which I used as a macro lens mounted reversed on an F2SB Photomic. I started with an Asahi Pentax, then Minolta SRT101, several Nikons, a few Leicas (M3, M4-2) then to Canon for 32 years, now Canon and Fujifilm. Gear is just fun and beautiful.
I will say, your gear shots are indeed worthy of their own IG account. Kudos!
So, when can we expect BTS photos of gear shots (or even a tutorial) on the new gear feed?

Random question… I’ve been reading your articles about vintage glass (inspired me to purchase a Canon 50mm 1.4 LTM – amazing lens!!) and I was thinking about moving from X-T1 to X-Pro2.
How is the OVF w/ ERF popup for manual focus lenses on the X-Pro2? I’ve shot on Leica film cameras and they automatically adjust for parallax – but the X-Pro2 obviously cannot do that with manual focus lenses. Have you found this to be a problem / is it easy to compensate?

I am also interested to know if parallax problems when using vintage lenses in OVF mode was somehow improved in the X-Pro2 . I only use the Helios 44-M in my X-Pro1 with the EVF just because of this problem.
Is the X-T2 with its dual screen mode a better camera for manual focusing vintage lenses? Is the resolution of the X-T2 EVF when in dual screen mode good enoughfor accurate focusing?
