A (Colourful) day at the Zoo

As anyone who reads/views this blog from time to time might know, I almost exclusive shot black and whites. I simply prefer the feeling of black and white imagery since, I feel, it takes away the clutter, and focusses on emotion being expressed by the subject. As I once read somewhere: “If you photograph in colour, you take a picture of someones clothes. If you photograph in black and white you take a picture of their soul”.

That doesn’t mean that I dislike colour photographs, and I just so happen to have a GREAT camera to output extremely vivid colours. The X-Pro1 with its Velvia film simulation gives me colours I can never get to much of.

We took a trip to the Copenhagen Zoo yesterday, and these animals deserve to be photographed in full glorious colour! So thats what I did. All images shot with Fujifilm X-Pro1 + Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R using the Velvia simulation. I did minor contrast work in LR5 except for the elephants, bear and giraffe pics which I desaturated to give it a dusty Savannah sunshine like feel.

( oh…and stay tuned for some Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R goodness soon :O )
