Cars and Cameras

This weekend was a great one. It doesn’t matter how hard I try. I can’t hide the fact that I have a thing for gasoline, horsepower and racing.

So when Fujifilm Nordic teamed up with Troelsen motorsport, Click Svenborg and Mimosa Foto to create an all day event at Padborg Racing Park in Denmark I was thrilled to be invited as one of the X-Photographer guides alongside Palle Schultz.

The event was an all day race day which ended with a night racing session. There were Legend series cars, Formula 4 and 5 as well a Touring Cars.
Fujifilm was a sponsor for the Troelsen Motorsport Touring car on the day, and the car was filmed in matte all black with Fujifilm logos on it. Looked amazing!

I brought my X-T2 which apparently has an issue with OIS in the lenses, so I “had to crash that Honda” 😉 – Instead I used my X-Pro2 graphite, which worked flawlessly. I used the 50-140mm f/2.8 and a 1.4x TC.

But in addition to that X-series setup I really wanted to test my GFX in this environment.
I used it mainly with the GF110mm f/2, but also used it with the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 mk 2 via an upcoming adapter that takes Canon EF lenses and does autofocus on the GFX.

So here are some images from the day on the track. EXIF data are in the files, so you can see which are GFX and which are X-Pro2

  1. Really cool photos! I should be getting the XT2 soon after I trade in my beatup XT1. I would love to go to Silverstone to capture something like this.

  2. Great pics Jonas! Question: I’m puzzled, how did you take the before the last photo (car #44)?

    1. Hi Thierry.

That was not an easy shot to make! I missed 50 shots to get that single frame! 😀

I panned the car at 1/30s while zoom all the way from 50mm to 140mm in a swift motion.

      Bloody hard!

  3. Excellent photography and opportunity. It feels like I’m a part of the action and festivities.

I’m not familiar with the “stock” car bodies (as opposed to the open-wheel). The dimensions of several of these autos seem totally out of proportion to the size of the drivers (e.g. #81, #3). Are these original or “chopped and channeled” originals, downsized replicas. All very interesting.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Show color or show B&W. Mixing them doesn’t work here. Appears as if you aren’t sure what you want to do and lessens the impact of the group.

  5. Good day sir! I love your photos. Youre one of my inspiration why i switched to fuji. Can you share some post processing tips?
