This easter we wanted to show the kids our countrys capitol. While both my wife and I have been there many times over the years, I cannot say the same for the children. So we decided to take a mini-break and play national tourists.
Copenhagen is marvellous. A 3 hour drive from Aarhus makes it well within reach of a quick drive. The distances in our small country isn’t really a hindrance for anything.
Planning a trip containing both amusements and cultural highlights isn’t easy when the childrens ages range from 2 over 5 to 7.
We decided not to stress anything, and just plan on showing them “Rundetårn” and the Royal Palace of Amalienborg. A tour of the canals was a must as well. We also had plans for the Zoo, but apparently the kids wanted to visit the streetfood market instead!
On the trip I brought my trusty X70, X-Pro2 with the XF23mm f/1.4 and the XF35mm f/2 as well as my newly acquired Leica M240 with the 35mm Summicron and the 50mm Summilux. A great combination where I could switch between a 50 on one body and a 35 on the other, as well as having a 28 in my pocket.
Copenhagen was, as usual, alive with all sorts of characters. And we really had some great weather as well. Cold, but sunny. I sorted the images in days. Day 4 was in part spent visiting my mother in the small city of Haderslev in the south of Denmark.

Great photos! I am considering the X-Pro2 with some lenses (probably 23mm and 35mm to start) as my first foray into a “pro” setup. I currently have the canon 650d with a couple of basic lenses. What I admire about your work is how you’re able to get some great shots done while the family is with you. I can’t even get 10 pictures taken on a walk in the woods or to the Beach with my two boys (aged 6 and 9)…. Please share if you have any tricks in this regard! Oh it got loads of attention. Just mainly used it for personal family images on this trip. – I love the little thing more and more everyday.

I have been wondering how you get close to people with your 35mm when you take the photos at the street. Since I also have been taking street photos for a while however I cannot seem to get close enough to take the images like you. Do you simply crop them upon post processing or is there any tips for that? I would appreciate if you could give your advice.
